Winter Snow Sports
Competition & Development Programs
Thredbo Alpine Club runs a Ski Development Program for children of members, and a race program in August for adult members. Having been one of the founders of the annual Thredbo Interclub Races and the Thredbo Junior Interclub Races, the Club fields teams every year in both events.
Among its members, Thredbo Alpine Club boasts an Australian Winter Olympic representative to the 1998 and 2002 games. That same member won a silver medal in the World Championships in 2001.
Ski Development Program
The Ski Development Program runs in the June/July School Holiday period and is designed to build children's skiing skills, to foster club spirit among the children and to introduce them to the sport of ski racing.
A race is run at the end of each period's instruction and period three children compete in the Thredbo Junior Interclub. Selections for the Interclub team are made based on previous year's results.
Adult Race Week
Adult Race Week runs each year in early August. As well as four mid week races, the week involves 4-5 days of ski instruction, video analysis of training and gates performance, a presentation on race theory and culminates in the hotly contested Thredbo Interclub Race.
Of course, being Thredbo there is also a full calendar of social events with other participating clubs.
