2022 TAC Mountain Bike Challenge

The second annual TAC Mountain Bike Challenge kicks off on Friday 4th March 2022. The competition includes two events held over two days with the combined points score determining Club MTB Champions in both female and male categories.

Saturday 5th March

MTB Cross Country - Thredbo to Lake Crackenback (or the Fish Hatchery)

10am start / all welcome / free / suitable for MTB Cross Country and E-Bike.

Sunday 6th March

Supertrail Scramble Downhill MTB - Kosciuszko Supertrail

1pm start / more advanced riders welcome / $45 entry fee plus lift ticket / suitable for downhill MTBs

All competitors must have an AusCycling Race Membership or purchase a day licence here on the day of the race.

Day 1 - Saturday 5 March

MTB Cross Country
Thredbo to Lake Crackenback 16.3km (Beer)

(may extend to fish hatchery - extra 20km ) 36km total

​

A fabulous trail from Thredbo to Crackenback following the river all the way, crossing several bridges and passing through two camping areas along the route. The trail is two way, one to two meters wide and is mostly downhill with a few little climbs to get the heart pumping. Choose to ride back to Thredbo or take the Crackenback resort shuttle (booking required).

Day 2 - Sunday 6 March

Supertrail Scramble  MTB Downhill

​

Taking on the easier sections of the Cannonball downhill with a mix of the Kosciuszko Flow, racers will crush upper Cannonball Downhill before switching to the Kosciuszko Flow at Kareela Hutte. Traversing back and forth across the slopes of the Supertrail before racers switch back to the Cannonball Downhill for the next technical section, Bunny Walk. Prepare for high speed gravity all the way from here to the finish line.

 

Race Time: 1:00pm

Course: Mix of Downhill and Flow

Event Cost: $45 plus lift pass from $89
